Job summary

Amcor is seeking an engineering internship to support the Thermoforming Process Improvement Team. You will contribute to projects aligned with your education, gaining hands-on experience in a production environment.

Responsibilities include project updates, safety compliance, and delivering an end-of-term presentation. Strong organizational and communication skills, plus AutoCAD/SolidWorks proficiency, are desired.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an ABET or ATME accredited Engineering Project and in good standing.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • ABET/ATME accreditation is a must for the program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Thermoforming Process Improvement Team on scoped projects.
  • Maintain regular project updates to project leaders.
  • Comply with Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
  • Present an end-of-term summary of work and lessons learned.

Purpose
Job Description

Provide technical support for the Thermoforming department through appropriately scoped projects relative to one’s educational/technical skills. Develop a better understanding of the applicable elements of engineering in a production environment.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support to Thermoforming Process Improvement Team within the scope of assigned projects. Maintain regular project updates to applicable project leaders. Comply with all company Environmental Health and Safety and Department of Health requirements. Provide an "end of term" presentation that summarizes the work completed and lessons learned during the internship.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be currently enrolled in an ABET or ATME accredited Engineering Project and in good standing.
Practical
  • Good past work experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic understanding of 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks) modeling software.
  • Able to accept responsibility for work performed.
  • Able to work independently and with others.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined abiding by all Amcor codes of ethics, safety policies and rules.
  • Experience in STEM activities is preferred. (First robotics, technical training, Baja SAE, mechanical "hobbies")
  • Good communication skills
Physical Expectations
  • Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.
  • Stereo optical vision of 20/40 or better and peripheral vision of 70 degrees or greater and ability to read 10-12-point font at a distance of 12-18 inches.
  • Able to see and identify colors. (Complete an "Ishiharar" color Vision Test)
  • Able to use both hands for effective manipulation of tools/parts.
  • Ability to work at heights (with or without fall protection).
  • Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds at a minimum of 10 times per hour and lift 50-75 lbs. at or above shoulder height occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull loads of approx. 45 lbs. at a minimum of 10 times per day/shift.
  • Able to work in extremes of heat/cold.
  • Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to occasionally climb on and off a forklift safely and without assistance.
