Job summary

Jobtailor in Newport News, VA seeks a senior continuous improvement leader to define and drive enterprise-wide programs that align projects with strategic goals. You will establish governance, metrics, and training to sustain improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years exempt experience or Master's with 4+ years experience required
• NNS Apprentice School graduate may be equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree
• Navy Nuclear Power School graduate may be equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above required
• High School/GED with 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military or equivalent experience
• High School/GED with 8 years combined of manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military or equivalent non-exempt experience
• Experience with process improvement and/or project management
• Experience with shipbuilding and knowledge of associated processes
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to facilitate and deliver training
• Six Sigma certification may be held

Responsibilities

• Define, design and implement continuous improvement programs across the organization
• Define improvement projects aligned with business strategies
• Analyze improvement programs and potential results
• Facilitate and coach improvement teams
• Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure program success
• Install process excellence supports for governance, reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards
• Support leaders in continuous improvement efforts satisfying CPMP and Self-Assessment Program
• Attend CPMP council meetings to influence self-assessment efforts
• Serve as liaison to develop scheduled self-assessments
• Provide timely evaluations and feedback on improvement efforts
• Apply facilitation, training, emotional intelligence, technical and leadership skills

• Install process excellence supports for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards
• Support Deckplate leaders in ongoing continuous improvement efforts satisfying Critical Process Management Plans (CPMP) and the Self-Assessment Program
• Attend CPMP council meetings to influence self-assessment efforts
• Serve as liaison between O07 Process Enterprise Assessment and leadership to develop scheduled self-assessments
• Provide timely and relevant evaluations and feedback on improvement efforts
• Apply facilitation, training, emotional intelligence, technical and leadership skills

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience
• NNS Apprentice School graduate may be equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate may be equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree
• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
• Experience with process improvement and/or project management
