Backed by advanced technology, lifecycle services and an industry‑leading field organization, we elevate customer performance, turn goals into real‑world results and help move society forward.

What you will do

At Johnson Controls, we don’t work around those limits—we eliminate them. Powered by our breakthrough Stack Forging™ process, we engineer high‑performance thermal components and integrated cooling loop solutions designed for direct deployment into AI, HPC, and other demanding environments. As a Process Engineering Manager on the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions team in Burlington, MA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our advanced manufacturing technologies. You’ll lead development, optimization, and control of complex processes that power JCI’s breakthrough innovations, build and scale a high‑performing Process Engineering team, and translate theory into practice on the lab and production floor.

How you will do it
  • Technical Leadership – Run and participate in cross‑disciplinary project teams working to address technical challenges or improve process capability.
  • Manufacturing Process Development – Contribute to projects that improve the team’s manufacturing technology, becoming a go‑to expert on the Stack Forging process across the organization.
  • Hiring and Onboarding – Rapidly grow the process engineering team while maintaining a healthy culture and technical excellence.
  • Mentorship – Lead and mentor the team to develop core engineering and process development skills, ensuring technical excellence and continuous growth.
  • Technology Roadmapping and Stakeholder Management – Manage the roadmap for core process technologies, taking input from stakeholders spanning production technicians to commercial executives and crafting a roadmap that creates meaningful business value within realistic timelines.
What you will need

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in an engineering discipline, ideally within a complex manufacturing or process‑intensive environment.
  • 2+ years of proven experience managing and leading a technical engineering team.

Preferred
  • An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant engineering or scientific field.
  • Deep expertise in one or more core process disciplines: process control, experimental design (DOE), or metallurgy, chemistry, manufacturing, or 3D printing.
  • Technical background or direct experience with laser processing, complex metal forming, or high‑volume manufacturing readiness for advanced materials.
  • Experience in metal additive manufacturing, specialized forming processes, or thermal management systems.
  • Experience with high‑volume manufacturing, knowledge of what it takes to tweak a process or part to produce 10,000’s of a part per year.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical challenges into clear project scopes and business‑aligned technology roadmaps.
