Job summary

East Penn Manufacturing is seeking a motivated Process Engineering Intern to support the Smelter Department. This hands-on role focuses on process documentation, standardization and continuous improvement to boost safety, quality and productivity on the production floor.

You will work with engineers and operators to develop SOPs, map processes and analyze data to drive cost performance and operational efficiency. PPE and a manufacturing setting are required.

Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related Science field.
• Sophomore standing or higher required.
• Strong communication, organizational and time-management skills.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Proficient with Excel and Word; able to work independently and in teams.
• Comfortable in a manufacturing environment and able to wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Document manufacturing and smelting processes to support operational excellence.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Create process maps and visual aids to support training and standardization.
• Collect and analyze production data to identify process improvements.
• Support process optimization projects focusing on safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction.
• Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement improvements and measure results.
• Prepare and present project findings, recommendations and progress updates.
