Job summary

Lam Research in Fremont, CA seeks a Process Engineering Director to lead advanced etch process development, guide cross-functional teams, and drive technology roadmaps.

You will oversee complex R&D from pilot to manufacturing, mentor engineers, and demonstrate new technologies at customer sites while coordinating with service and sales to defend processes and secure business opportunities. This role requires strategic thinking, hands-on leadership, and travel to customer locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree+12+ years experience or PhD+10+ years experience, or equivalent.
• Leadership experience managing multiple engineers and driving tool strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead professional process engineering R&D for semiconductor capital equipment.
• Review processing techniques from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing.
• Plan projects for new concepts and process improvements.
• Compile/test data to set process specs and limits.
• Support customer demos and defend existing process applications.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align roadmaps and requirements.
• Utilize JMP and other tools to analyze data and derive insights.
