Job summary

Prysmian Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to identify and develop processes for manufacturing premium copper and fiber optic cables. You will plan process development, ensure compliance to specs, and troubleshoot across shifts while driving corrective actions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years in manufacturing or process engineering, with strong cross-functional communication. Knowledge of SAP and CAD tools is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing or Process Engineering with preference for Wire & Cable.
• Must be able to distinguish colors accurately.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office, SAP, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Minitab.
• Strong communication skills; Portuguese language ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify equipment, tooling, and processes required to manufacture specialty copper and fiber optic cables.
• Plan and direct process development while ensuring manufacturing specs and standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues across all shifts and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate experimental production (XP's) and develop technical manufacturing instructions (TMIs).
• Develop and maintain work instructions and procedures.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis on high-visibility non-conformances and report findings.
• Assist in operator training and coordinate capital projects.
• Provide input for accurate product costing and liaise with vendors on materials and processes.

Responsible for identifying the equipment, tooling, and processes required to manufacture specialty copper and fiber optic cables. This role plans and directs process development while maintaining manufacturing specifications and standards. It also requires troubleshooting production issues across all shifts and implementing corrective actions to ensure consistent operational performance.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and improve overall process related issues.
• Design and maintenance of tools and dies.
• Equipment and compound troubleshooting.
• Coordinate assigned experimental production (XP's) products.
• Develop and maintain technical manufacturing instructions (T.M.'s).
• Develop and maintain work instructions and procedures.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis studies and report findings on high visibility non-conformances
• Assist as required in operator training.
• Coordinate the process manufacture of assigned technical orders.
• Coordinate assigned capital appropriation (CA) projects.
• Provide accurate and timely responses to corrective action request.
• Provide input as required to effect accurate product costing.
• Maintain liaison with vendors to keep abreast of current materials and processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of Experience in Manufacturing or Process Engineering, with preference given to those who have worked specifically in Process Engineering within the Wire and Cable industry.
• Must be able to accurately distinguish colors.
• Computer Skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Minitab.
• Strong communication skills required; Portuguese language ability is considered an asset.
