Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Provide engineering support and direction to the maintenance department for electrical/electronic equipment.
• Manage projects including cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation and startup.
• Coordinate with outside electrical engineering, construction and consulting firms.
• Oversee outsourced repairs of critical electronic components.
• Assist in preparing annual capital and expense budgets.
• Develop and debug control logic for machine control and modify designs as needed.
• Analyze electrical schematics for component-level repairs.
• Use programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures/improvements.
• Guide electricians in troubleshooting and programming AC/DC drive systems.
• Troubleshoot with current tech including electrical test equipment and diagnostics.
• Maintain backups of essential programs and data.
• Implement and maintain network communications understanding.

Controls Engineer is responsible for all PLC and computer software supporting production equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Provide engineering support and direction to the maintenance department for maintaining electrical and electronic equipment.
• Manage assigned projects which includes cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementations.
• Manage outside electrical engineering, construction and consulting firms.
• Manage outsourced repairs of critical electronic components.
• Assist the Engineering & Maintenance Manager with the preparation of the annual capital and expense budget for management review.
• Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control, make design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
• Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
• Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
• Provide direction to electricians in troubleshooting, repair and program AC/DC drive systems.
• Troubleshoot issues utilizing current technology including electrical test equipment and computer diagnosis equipment.
• Members and that sufficient back-up copies are maintained in a safe location.
• Implement, maintain and have a complete understanding of network communications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing (wire & cable experience highly desirable).
• Advanced computer skills required including PLC programming and CAD. (Experience with Wonderware a plus).
