Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Group AG in Tuscaloosa, AL, seeks a process engineer to support shop operations under the Mercedes Production System. You will monitor process & quality, troubleshoot wax/AFA/SKW/VIN, and lead continuous improvement projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical or Environmental Eng, up to 2 years of related experience, and strong problem-solving skills to drive safety, efficiency, and cost improvements.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering/Science, or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Co-Op/ internship and/ or up to 2 years' professional experience in the following area(s): Chemical Engineering, pretreatment and ecoating systems, automotive pretreatment and Ecoat process system
• Very strong problem solving skills in a cross-functional team environment
• Knowledge of Wax/ AFA/ SKW/ VIN process

Responsibilities

• Monitoring Process & Quality, Troubleshooting - Wax/ AFA/ SKW/ VIN
• Process and CI projects
• Plan and prepare for product changes and their impact on processes, equipment, tooling, etc.
• Perform process capability studies and audits as required to maintain the highest level of product quality.
• Investigate process/product problems and implement and verify effective countermeasures working in conjunction with (Group Leaders, Team Leaders, Team Members and Supplier Quality Engineering, Production Planning System, EVS-development Liaison group, Process Engineering, Production Control System and development departments)
• Lead across functional problem solving meetings with other departments.
• KPI's with dispense checks and cycle time
• Ensure the optimal condition of equipment and processes.
• Evaluate work station layouts, prepare standard times ... validate process times to ensure optimized process design.
• Develop processes and maintain integrity with respect to safety/ergonomics, quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
