Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking a process-focused engineer to develop robust manufacturing processes ensuring quality and performance of components. You will apply the scientific method and Six Sigma tools to drive improvements and standardize instructions across areas.

You will collaborate between shop floor, engineering, and facilities to implement new technology and monitor equipment reliability, budgeting, and capital decisions as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Develop robust processes that consistently meet or exceed our customers’ requirements for quality and performance of components.
• Drive standardized process management using the scientific method and six sigma tools.
• Author and approve new and revised Activity Instructions and Product Criteria/Work Instructions for the assigned area of responsibility.
• Determine root cause of deviations and develop timely reaction plans with escalation.
• Monitor yield, labor, and materials data to develop process improvement ideas for new and established processes.
• Monitor manufacturing output to ensure process control and respond to manufacturing needs with training and work instructions.
• Ensure and monitor equipment performance and PM completion; understand equipment interaction with the process.
• Write capital requests, manage costs, and control budgets for department needs.
• Act as conduit between manufacturing, engineering, and facilities to communicate technology needs and test/implement new technology.
• Participate in Production and NPI meetings with responsibility for developing process parameters.
• Assist in investigations and corrective actions for external customer escapes.
