Job summary

U.S. Pipe and Foundry in Bessemer, Alabama, is seeking a Process Engineer to support the Alabama Works facility.

The role focuses on developing and standardizing melting, casting, and pipe processing procedures to ensure quality and safety, with an emphasis on improving efficiency and throughput. Responsibilities include establishing standard work, material specs, and collaborating with Operations, Quality, and Procurement to test new processes and materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Candidates with 5-10 years’ experience in Manufacturing Process Engineering are encouraged to apply.
• Experience in analytical methods and formal problem-solving methodologies is required.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is a plus.
• Experience with metallurgy, cement chemistry, and adhesives or coatings is a plus.
• Experience with simulation modeling for new and existing processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops standard work applications and procedures for operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
• Leads the development of standard raw material specifications for supplier quality assurance and procurement bidding.
• Works with finished product samples to ensure they meet specifications.
• Develop programs to reduce downtime, costs and scrap losses using Lean tools.
• Improve manufacturing processes to increase quality, performance and profitability.
• Interact with customers, providing product recommendations and troubleshooting issues.
