Job summary

Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill is seeking a Paper Machine Co-op for Spring/Summer 2027 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The role supports the Production Team to achieve safety, quality, production, cost, and development objectives on a paper machine process line.

Pay rate is $27.00 per hour. Candidates should be enrolled in a relevant engineering degree program and be authorized to work in the United States for full-time employment. Relocation to the Stevens Point area for Jan–Aug 2027 may be required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar engineering degree.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Living in or willing to relocate to Stevens Point, WI for Jan–Aug 2027.
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials and reporting results.
• Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups.
• Learn and provide technical support to process engineers using Proficy, Centerlining, Optivision and Aspentech.
• Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions.
• Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability.
• Provide technical support for key departments.
• Provide problem solving and analytical skills.
• Follow manufacturing and hygiene processes to meet safety and quality requirements.
• Assist and/or lead safety, productivity, quality, and cost-control projects.
• Support machine manager in leading a paper machine process line and long-term planning.
• Support operations/maintenance efforts and drive continuous improvement.

Job description

The goal of the Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill’s Co-op program is to cultivate the development of potential future engineering and leadership resources for our organization while providing high-quality process support to the mill’s operations group(s). Co-op assignments are structured to provide candidates with opportunities to grow and develop in their chosen discipline as well as to educate them on various career paths within the organization. Although there is no guarantee of future employment, our goal is to have our Co-ops fully capable of stepping into a full-time engineering position within our organization by the end of the program.

We are seeking a Paper Machine Co-op at our Stevens Point, Wisconsin plant for Spring/Summer 2027. This position will assist the Production Team in the achievement of safety, quality, production, cost, and product development objectives of a paper machine process line. • Provide technical support for key departments
• Provide problem solving and analytical skills
• Must follow Ahlstrom's manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper
• Assist and/or lead safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, compliance, and housekeeping projects
• Support machine manager in leading a paper machine process line, including daily and long-term activities
• Support operations/maintenance efforts and drive continuous improvement
