Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is offering an in-plant internship at the Giant Resource Recovery (GRR) facility in South Carolina. You will work hands-on with engineering and operations teams to analyze data and drive process improvements that increase efficiency and reliability.

The role emphasizes data interpretation, collaboration across disciplines, and practical problem solving in a fast-paced industrial environment. Safety adherence and active learning are required for success.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Ability to analyze data and apply engineering principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
• Safety-focused and eager to learn in an industrial setting.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support process improvement initiatives that enhance plant efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on production optimization projects.
• Assist with troubleshooting process issues and developing practical, data-driven solutions.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations to communicate project findings and results.
  

What Are We Looking For

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve problems, and apply engineering principles in a practical environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
• Self-motivated, safety-focused, and eager to learn in a fast-paced industrial setting.
  

Work Environment

• Primarily based at the Giant Resource Recovery (GRR) facility.
• Hands-on experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with both office and plant exposure.
• Requires adherence to all safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when in operational areas.
