KLJ Engineering is seeking a skilled Process Engineer to support oil and gas projects through process design, data analysis, modeling, and engineering documentation. This role involves conducting field evaluations, developing process flow and instrumentation diagrams (PFDs & P&IDs), performing hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations, and troubleshooting plant operations. Responsibilities also include preparing technical reports, simulations, regulatory documentation, and contributing to HAZOP/LOPA studies and Health & Safety Plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3-5 years of relevant process engineering experience
- Proficiency with PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and simulation software (e.g., VMG, HYSYS)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and technical problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with oil and gas equipment, codes, and regulatory requirements
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Collect, compile, and analyze data from sites, surveys, maps, and other sources for planning, engineering, scheduling, and execution of oil and gas projects.
- Maintain quality control standards for engineering calculations and statistical analysis related to hydraulics, line/flare/header sizing, and equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, process towers, and more.
- Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, simulations, datasheets, and calculations.
- Incorporate process engineering expertise, advanced technology, and sustainable solutions into design standards, ensuring safety and functionality.
- Conduct simulation studies and utilize process models for capacity assessment, performance analysis, and bottleneck identification.
- Contribute to project services, including process design, modeling, and operational practices.
- Work as part of a team to execute project work, including design, evaluation, root cause analysis, and ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Prepare data visualizations, reports, and presentations for analysis and communication.
- Assist in developing and scoping small to medium projects.
- Participate in process engineering studies and surveys to gather information and plan for future needs.
- Provide technical support for crude oil processing plants, troubleshooting operational issues, and identifying improvements.
- Participate in HAZOP and LOPA studies and support the development of Health and Safety Plans.
- Collaborate with professionals, clients, and regulators to execute projects effectively.
- Adhere to ethical standards, company policies, and perform additional duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field; Master's preferred
- 3-5 years of post-education process engineering experience
- Professional licensure/certification
- Knowledge of process engineering principles, equipment, and design activities in oil processing
- Experience with piping, refinery infrastructure, and capacity planning
- Understanding of PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and process data formulation
- Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand regulatory requirements
- Strong communication skills for interactions with diverse audiences
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Proficiency with technical software and modeling tools like VMG and HYSYS
- Ability to work independently and in teams, with occasional travel as required
