Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc seeks a Process Engineer to understand, optimize and manage a process operating area and its assets. You will solve problems related to reliability, waste reduction, efficiency, quality, materials use and equipment performance, while supporting safe, sustainable production goals.

You will model processes, forecast outcomes, and provide analytical support to operations and management, driving continuous improvement across the plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering is required.
• Experience in process and continuous engineering in a paper mill or related manufacturing environment.
• VBA training preferred.
• Work experience in the paper industry or similar industry through an internship or co-op preferred.
• Proficient computer skills including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.

Responsibilities

• Use material balances to identify process problems with transmitters and other equipment.
• Own the process area historian; monitor PI-AF and Vision views and related efficiency calculations.
• Update process models and forecasting tools to predict future outcomes.
• Perform daily checks of production output and contributing factors.
• Drive continuous process improvement within an operating area through trials and data analysis.
• Develop Process Book pages and PI tags for process insights.
• Troubleshoot pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and reactor performance.
• Gather, cleanse and analyze production data to uncover important variables.
