Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Process Engineer to lead technical projects aimed at product and process improvements at the Seminole Mill. You will support operating departments to achieve goals, drive continuous improvement, and manage data-driven processes.

Key duties include implementing trials, collaborating with Operations, E&I, and Process Control, and owning PI Vision and Process Book documentation. Strong data skills and paper-industry experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or paper science preferred.
• Experience with plant information systems (PI Vision, LabVIEW, etc.).
• Experience with Excel, Minitab and data manipulation.
• Strong problem-solving and process-analysis skills to drive improvements.
• Strong communication skills to convey data to operations and management.
• Collaborative, cross-functional teamwork experience.
• Experience in the paper industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine and implement process changes or trials to improve efficiency and reduce variation.
• Partner with operations, E&I, and Process Control Engineers to understand processes and teams involved.
• Assist operations leadership with daily issues and troubleshooting as needed.
• Own Process Book and PI Vision, ensuring data and documentation are up to date.
• Gather and cleanse production data and perform statistical tests to identify key variables.
• Generate production reporting and process monitoring reports; perform daily troubleshooting.
• Share best practices with peers in software and systems.
• Communicate process-related data to operations and management in an actionable format.
• Support capital projects from a process capability perspective.
