Job summary

Smurfit Westrock at the Mahrt mill in Cottonton, AL seeks a Process Engineer to monitor, evaluate, and improve quality, quantity, and cost of the paperboard production processes. You will work on process engineering aspects of capital projects and support cross-functional teams to optimize performance.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Science, has at least two years in a paper mill environment, and is proficient with MS Office, especially Excel, with

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Science.
• Minimum 2 years of industry experience in the paper mill area.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Excel is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate in hot, humid, dusty paper mill environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide management with information on quality and operating parameters for process control.
• Participate on process improvement teams to identify problems and implement changes.
• Complete projects and development activities to prepare for future operation positions.
• Participate in process engineering aspects of capital projects.
• Promote safety and environmental compliance.
