Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Chemical Engineer to maintain SPC of key products and provide engineering support to improve yield, efficiency, and cost. You will monitor production for quality, cycle time, EHS compliance, and ensure adherence to documented practices.

The role requires 0–3 years experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments. You will write Work Instructions, troubleshoot equipment, and support audits and CAR/NCMR processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • 0–3 years experience in a relevant role.
  • Good working knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to details.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Quality focus and self-motivation; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work closely with other departments as a team player.
  • Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, basic process control, pumps, piping systems, control valves, mixers, solids handling, and environmental control equipment.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Statistical Process Control of key products.
  • Provide engineering support to improve first pass yield, process efficiency, and cost improvement.
  • Monitor production daily for quality, cycle time, EHS compliance, and consistency with documented work practices.
  • Monitor critical processes and oversee SPC-related activities.
  • Determine root causes for out-of-control products and other product failures; implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare periodic statistical reports for customers and submit them on time.
  • Manage assigned Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMR), drive root-cause and corrective-action resolution, minimize repeat occurrences, and ensure timely closeout.
  • Support QA with customer complaints related to batch manufacturing processes and Corrective Action Requests (CAR).
  • Write and modify Work Instructions for existing products.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process-equipment problems.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production and follow Management of Change protocol for equipment repairs and process changes.
  • Support Plant EHS activities, including waste-management shipment coordination, permit-compliance monitoring, internal and external audits, and EHS-systems performance validation.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Production and oversee equipment and instrumentation calibration.
