Job summary

PPG is seeking a Process Engineer, Manufacturing, in Lafayette, IN, to improve chemical coatings operations. You will lead process improvements, troubleshoot production issues, and support capital projects that drive safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

You will work with cross-functional teams to translate technical knowledge into measurable business results, monitor KPIs such as throughput, yield, and OEE, and support Lean initiatives across the plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in engineering discipline as listed.
• 3+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing or related plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily process engineering support for manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoot production, quality, and process issues to minimize downtime and improve throughput.
• Lead process optimization projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, yield, and cost reduction.
• Analyze process data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in PHA/MOC/PSSR and risk reduction projects.
• Develop process documentation, SOPs, PFDs, and engineering standards.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and EHS to improve performance.
• Support process control strategies, automation projects, alarms, and interlocks.
• Support capital projects including scope development, cost estimates, equipment specs, installation, and startup activities.
• Monitor and improve KPIs including throughput, yield, scrap, OEE, quality, and downtime.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement across the plant.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline
