Full time, on site. Shifts may run up to 12 hours, with physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs multiple times per shift, and working in a plant environment.
$86,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on experience, plus a sign on bonus and annual bonus potential of 8 to 12%.
The Process Engineer develops and conducts tests to evaluate proposed operating changes aimed at improving product quality, increasing production capacity, or reducing operating costs, and investigates the operating and economic feasibility of new technology, safety improvements, and planned capacity changes. This role provides technical support for maintenance of existing equipment, designs and documents chemical processes for new product development, and selects equipment required for scale up from development to production. The engineer writes procedures and trains staff on the safe operation of new equipment, selects control devices to enhance process control, and leads selected projects including planning, coordination, and progress reporting, with supervision of technicians as needed.
Beyond unit level work, this role coordinates between engineering and production to maximize equipment uptime and product quality in a safe, environmentally sound manner, and works to reduce maintenance, material, and repair costs against budget. The Process Engineer troubleshoots and designs improvements to optimize plant operations, collaborates with outside contractors on installation of new equipment, and maintains and expands knowledge of the chemical, physical, and safe handling properties of materials used in the assigned area.
