Job summary

Teknor Apex Company is seeking a production/process engineer to monitor and optimize existing plastics compounding operations. You will establish processing conditions, drive efficiency, and develop new methods for scale-up and product launches.

The role emphasizes problem-solving through RCA and Lean Six Sigma tools, cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing and Technology, and participation in plant-wide quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree or Masters in Polymers Sciences, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates may apply.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Experience with RCA and lean tools.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the existing production process with focus on problem products.
• Set processing conditions for existing equipment and improve plastics compounding efficiency.
• Develop new production process methods based on application and formulation.
• Resolve production problems by collaborating with Manufacturing and Technology.
• Conduct plant trials to qualify new processes and scale up to production.
• Lead improvement projects to raise rates and standardize processes; investigate customer complaints related to process issues.
• Improve overall production quality and participate in plant-wide quality initiatives.
• Assist in establishing specific goals and performance standards to reduce rejects and downtime.
• Communicate with related parties on new product transfer from other plants.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Pursue continuous improvement and lean initiatives: RCA, cross-functional projects, and lean implementations.

Education
