Job summary

The ideal candidate has a chemical engineering or related degree, knowledge of polymers, hands-on experience with MS Office, and a Six Sigma Green Belt. Familiarity with RCA and FMEA is a plus, and the role requires teamwork and a safety-conscious mindset.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science or Industrial Engineering.
  • Good understanding of formulation, material science and equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and support a QMS environment.
  • Knowledge in thermoplastics, polymer blends and polymer compounding preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel); willingness to learn other apps.
  • Hold Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or commit to obtain within two years).
  • Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies; certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the existing production process with focus on problem products.
  • Develops new production process methods based on application and formulation.
  • Works on projects to improve rates and set up standard formats for processes.
  • Assists in establishing work goals and performance standards to reduce rejects and downtime.
  • Responds to customer complaints and implements corrective actions.
  • Leads production trials and supports the plant's trial team to improve success rates.
  • Uses FMEA tools as necessary.
  • Applies Leader Standard Work to maintain process discipline and drive improvements.
