Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Process Engineer to design, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods in a Toledo, Ohio facility. You will work with automation, engineering and safety teams to manage change and uphold quality standards across materials and processes.

Responsibilities include quality systems, lab management, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize production, reduce risk, and ensure regulatory and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and Continuous Improvement.
  • Demonstrated Leadership Experience.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Testing Procedures and Statistical Analysis.
  • On-call for Quality related production issues.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain systems to ensure quality of materials and finished products; liaison between R&T, Technical Service, Marketing & Sales, and Production.
  • Monitor and improve plant efficiency and output to meet supply requirements.
  • Provide technical advice on plant operations and improvements.
  • Collaborate on engineering analyses including design, cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and equipment selection.
  • Perform risk assessments including HAZOP and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Manage the site QC Lab and oversee QA lab activities and supplies.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action and root cause analysis.
  • Facilitate process mapping, FMEA, and Gage R&Rs with operations.
  • Serve as SME in EXP and NWA quality data tools.
  • Ensure product quality incidents have root causes identified and controlled.
  • Establish product inspection standards by studying process control.
  • Manage all Raw Material Quality Inspections.

Job description

The candidate for this position will be responsible for develop, evaluate, and improve the manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities, works closely with automation, engineering and safety functions to ensure all aspects of change management are executed, and maintain all quality control standards.

Process Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the systems necessary to ensure quality of raw materials and finished products; provide primary support for all chemistry/quality related manufacturing issues; act as liaison between R&T (Research and Technology), Technical Service, Marketing & Sales, and Production; provide guidance for department (Lab) activity and ensure it is within budget
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency and output of the plant, ensure the manufacturing process works at optimal levels, maximize the rate and quality of all surface treaters in order to meet supply requirements.
  • Provide technical advice on plant operations and improvements
  • Collaborates on the preparation of engineering analysis of projects that includes preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and equipment selection
  • Assume responsibility for risk assessment, including hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies for the health and safety of both plant staff and the community. Apply principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme, and detail design. Ensure that all aspects of the operation and process meet specified safety and environmental regulations
  • Manage the site QC Lab. Conduct routine and non-routine QC testing. Maintain all lab supplies for the main QC lab and the production QC labs. Responsible for the Quality Analysts who reports to the Process Engineer
  • Leads Corrective and Preventative Action documentation and response, including leading the site in the discipline of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Planning
  • Facilitates process mapping and FMEA sessions and Gage R&Rs with operations team
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in EXP (corrective action reporting software) and NWA (Quality test data)
  • Ensures all customer product quality incidents have root causes identified and controlled
  • Establishes product inspection standards by studying process control
  • Manage all Raw Material Quality Inspections

Process Engineer Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and Continuous Improvement
  • Demonstrated Leadership Experience
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Testing Procedures and Statistical Analysis
  • On-call for Quality related production issues

Preferred:

  • Previous Manufacturing Experience Preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Industrial Safety Rules and Procedures
