Job summary

Nippon Paint Automotive Americas in Cleveland seeks a technical specialist to join the Manufacturing department, reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will provide daily technical support and drive process improvements, quality enhancements, and cost-reduction efforts across the facility.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (ABET accredited).
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects.
  • Results-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven success in project management and ability to implement business process improvements across multiple departments.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process/equipment troubleshooting (including process control systems) and use of SPC to improve batch quality and implement cost reduction, reliability, and quality programs.
  • Develop skill sets and work on small-scale capital projects.
  • Coordinate and drive efficiency initiatives within the department to realize benefits.
  • Interface with vendors to determine specifications and arrange equipment/material purchases; evaluate products to specs and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with in-house maintenance and outside contractors for repairs and improvements.
  • Analyze space requirements, workflow, and layout to maximize efficiency.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing daily technical support for a Cleveland facility Manufacturing department(s) under the direction of the Engineering Manager and specific Plant Superintedant of that department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Process/equipment troubleshooting (including process control systems), utilization of SPC to improve batch quality, and assistance with cost reduction, process reliability and quality improvement programs.
  • Expectation is that a successful applicant will develop skill sets and work on small scale capital projects.
  • The main responsibility for this individual will be coordinating/facilitating several efficiency initiatives within the department and following through on them to the point of realized benefits.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Works with in-house maintenance and outside contractors to facilitate repairs & improvements.
  • Analyzes and plans space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • B.S.in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited)

  • Must be able to respond to plant system & utility failures/disruptions in an efficient manner
  • Strong follow-up & follow through communication skills with contractors (in-person, phone, email, etc.)
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred
  • Ability to identify and define problems, collect and analyzes data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work off shift hours in order to keep the needs of the business.
