Job summary

Corning is seeking a Process/Electrical Technician to optimize manufacturing processes and automated equipment in optical fiber production. You will focus on process improvement, electrical systems, machine controls, and troubleshooting to lift safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.

You will participate in prototype builds, data analysis, and technology transfers while creating electrical schematics and supporting startup and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or development environment.
• Hands‑on experience troubleshooting industrial electrical and automated systems.

Responsibilities

• Support development and qualification of new products and manufacturing processes.
• Participate in prototype builds, process validation, and technology transfers.
• Collect and analyze process data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring documentation using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Support machine-control integration, startup, commissioning, and debugging.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, motors, sensors, servo systems, VFDs, and industrial safety systems.
• Support automated equipment, robotics, conveyors, and material-handling systems.
• Assist with equipment upgrades, obsolescence planning, vendor qualification, and standardization.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Provide technical support during production startup and ongoing operations.
