Job summary

Corning is seeking a Process Technician to join our fiber optic cable manufacturing on a 12-hour rotating day shift. You will apply engineering principles to support process improvement, equipment troubleshooting, and technology transfers across the manufacturing floor, working with engineers, operators, and team leaders to drive quality, safety, and production capability.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or technical training, proficiency with MS Office, and strong problem-solving

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 2-year technical degree in a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Creative/innovative problem solving.
• The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly.

Responsibilities

• Generate weekly engineering reports and support daily dispositioning of production rejects.
• Provide problem-solving support to production operations; collaborate with engineers, operators, and team leaders to develop and implement process, equipment, and safety improvements.
• Support equipment lifecycle activities — including developing specifications for new equipment, assisting with installation, commissioning, qualification, and mechanical troubleshooting; assist in generating spare parts lists and stocking recommendations.
• Develop and maintain production and maintenance documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules, calibration records, and troubleshooting guides.
• Support master trainers with the training of production personnel on new products, processes, and equipment.
• Support the transfer of new cabling technology, materials, and processes from development to production; assist with training production personnel on new products, processes, and equipment.
