Job summary

IPG Photonics is seeking a Process Development Engineer to develop, optimize, and qualify advanced optoelectronic components. You will collaborate cross-functionally to transition processes to volume production with documentation and training.

Ideal candidates have a degree in a relevant field, experience in optoelectronics or packaging, and a strong grasp of semiconductor laser physics, paired with solid problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related field.
• Experience in optoelectronics and/or semiconductor packaging.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor laser physics.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist technical personnel with troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing stations and production equipment.
• Maintain control charts, calibration procedures and SOPs to support production flow.
• Participate in design and implementation of improved processes tailored for high-power optoelectronic components.
• Evaluate and suggest equipment, materials, techniques to meet thermal, optical, electrical, and mechanical requirements for process under development.
• Analyze failure modes and drive corrective actions to improve process robustness and yield.
• Work closely with design, materials, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure process compatibility with product requirements.
