Job summary

IPG Photonics is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Material Processing Systems Group to design, implement, test, and support complex software for laser-based manufacturing equipment.

You will lead technical execution across projects, guide design reviews, and mentor engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality system integration on the production floor.

Qualifications

• 12+ years professional software engineering experience.
• Experience leading technically complex software features and mentoring engineers.
• BSCE/BSCS/BSEE or equivalent; MS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze machine requirements and implement software solutions for laser-based material processing systems.
• Serve as technical lead for projects or subsystems and coordinate engineering work.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, controls, and applications engineers for integrated solutions.
