Job summary

Moderna is seeking an Engineer I for the Pilot Scale Operations team to support Formulations (Lipid Nanoparticle and Drug Product) pilot-scale production on-site. The role requires BS/BA or MS in a relevant field and 0-2 years of experience with formulation sciences, lipid nanoparticles, and associated unit operations.

Responsibilities include coordinating technology transfer, process development, scale-up strategies, SOP updates, and safe operation of specialized equipment.

Qualifications

• Requires BS/BA or MS in Chemistry, Systems, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering with 0-2 years related experience.
• Hands-on experience with fermentation, enzymatic reaction, chromatography and/or tangential flow filtration preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and write/update SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Receive technology transfer from Moderna Process Development, focusing on Formulations science and delivery development.
• Assist in defining process development and scale-up strategy; implement process control strategies.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment used to manufacture Formulations batches.
• Characterize product attributes with analytical and technical teams.
• Demonstrate and implement lab best practices.
