Job summary

Moderna is seeking a full-time Engineer I for the Pilot Scale Operations team to support Formulations (Lipid Nanoparticle and Drug Product) pilot-scale production. The role emphasizes solving problems, SOP updates, and collaboration with Process Development to enable efficient technology transfer.

You will operate and troubleshoot pilot equipment, assist in scale-up strategies, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental guidelines in a fast-paced biotech setting.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or MS in Chemistry, Systems, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or closely related field with 0-2 years related experience.
• Hands‑on experience with fermentation, enzymatic reaction, chromatography and/or tangential flow filtration experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot pilot-scale equipment used to manufacture Formulations batches.
• Assist other development scientists/ engineers in defining process development and scale-up strategy.
• Contribute to process control strategies and technology transfer activities.
• Characterize product attributes in collaboration with analytical teams.
• Update and write SOPs related to production as needed.
• Adhere to Moderna safety procedures and waste handling guidelines.
