Job summary

Tectum, Inc., a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Newark, OH, is seeking a skilled electrical technician to troubleshoot PLCs/HMI, calibrate sensors, and lead preventive maintenance. You’ll work on complex control systems and coordinate with engineers to improve equipment performance.

The role requires a strong background in electrical theory, NEC practices, and PLC/HMI programming, with a preference for Journeyman electrician status and team leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electronics, computer science, or related field plus 5 years of industrial electrical experience or equivalent (5-10 years).
• Strong analytical and communication skills; training others in preventive maintenance.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical theory, NEC, and wiring practices; PLC/HMI programming skills.
• Journeyman electrician status (at minimum) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Observe all OSHA and company safety rules and use proper safety equipment.
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and malfunctions using PLC/HMI knowledge and electrical schematics.
• Train technicians to troubleshoot, repair, replace, and calibrate electrical sensors and instruments.
• Modify PLC logic and HMI programs to improve equipment performance; coordinate changes.
• Manage the electrical preventive maintenance program and keep documentation up to date.
• Support machine installations and upgrades, interfacing equipment and vendors as needed.
