Job summary

Prysmian Group’s Claremont fiber manufacturing plant seeks a highly motivated engineer to join the engineering department to support optical fiber manufacturing. You will evaluate, troubleshoot, and lead process control and improvement activities on a daily basis, with a focus on PCVD/APVD glass processes and production equipment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Engineering in one of the specified disciplines.
• Minimum 1 year in a complex manufacturing process or internship in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to understand complex process flow and machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting or improving equipment.
• Experience working with chemical-based manufacturing and understanding process-equipment relationships.
• Desire to become a subject matter expert in the assigned process area.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize short- and long-term initiatives.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and data-driven decision skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; comfort with data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Monitor manufacturing processes to identify trends and out-of-control situations and provide timely solutions.
• Lead the process area responsible for yields, documentation, procedures, data tracking, and technical innovation.
• Prioritize issues to impact process yields and productivity meaningfully.
• Develop or maintain KPIs weekly or monthly to ensure quality and productivity targets.
• Perform root cause analyses for trends, equipment issues, and process drifts.
• Support PCVD/APVD glass manufacturing processes focusing on equipment performance and uptime.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues with technicians to develop solutions and source parts.
• Assist in commissioning, startup, and transition of new equipment into production.
• Provide data and explanations to engineers, operators, technicians, and other departments to maintain stability.
