TGW Systems Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a Retrofit Process and Software Consultant to help ensure TGW solutions fit client WCS/WMS environments.

You will analyze current distribution processes with client teams to ensure feasibility and guide upgrades and enhancements. Responsibilities include site visits, responding to RFIs/RFPs, designing software interfaces, developing detailed requirements, and collaborating with IT, operations, and engineering teams to ensure successful project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-level design or intralogistics software.
  • Travel up to 25% (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

  • Visit TGW customer sites to understand current operating environments.
  • Provide software and IT responses for RFIs, RFPs, and IT assessments.
  • Collaborate with IT, operations and software teams on design and requirements.
  • Develop process maps and detailed requirements; contribute to cost estimates.
  • Assist in hand-off to software integration and retrofit design teams.
  • Review RFP data, adjust contracts and planning as needed.
  • Support software design sessions and simulation definitions.

The Retrofit Process and Software Consultant supports the LTS Sales team in the competitive effort to win profitable business by ensuring that the TGW solutions produced are able to be implementable and operable under a potential client’s existing Warehouse Control System (WCS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) environment. This position first interfaces with the customer’s Project Lead, IT, and Operations teams to thoroughly analyze current distribution processes in the customer’s facility and then utilizes the analysis to ensure the project’s viability and optimality for proper upgrades and enhancements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Visits TGW customer sites to understand current operating environments.
  • Provides software and IT responses for RFI’s, RFP’s, IT assessments, and proactive customer requests on contracts and concept plannings.
  • Participates in prospect calls, design meetings, and review sessions.
  • Collaborates with prospects' IT and software organizations.
  • Develops process maps, detailed requirements, and feature set documents.
  • Collaborates on software designs with the software integration team and IT infrastructure designs with internal IT.
  • Provides input for software cost estimates and assists in developing proposal documentation.
  • Collaborates in hand-over to the software integration team and with retrofit solutions design and application engineering teams.
  • Reads and analyzes RFPs, validates data analysis, PPT slides, and proactively adjusts customer contracts and concept plannings accordingly.
  • Provides input for simulation definitions and results evaluation.
  • Participates in WCS to PLC integration designs and realization design sessions with clients.
  • Reviews and provides input to the software functional specification document.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Operations Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in high-level design or operation of diverse intralogistics or comparable software systems, or related.

Travel: Up to 25% of travel (domestic and international) required.

Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of software systems and IT architecture.
  • Ability to map operational activities to software requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with material handling equipment (e.g., shuttle systems, miniload cranes, conveyors, pick stations) and supply chain software packages.
  • Working knowledge of PLC technology.
  • Experience implementing highly-automated intralogistics solutions.
  • Experience optimizing supply chain strategies and supporting software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
Other Requirements

This position may require work at TGW customer sites. TGW’s customers may require background checks before accessing their sites. Refusal to participate in a customer-required background check may result in a customer barring access and a subsequent reduction in work.
