Job summary

CWP Nonproviders in Bethesda, MD seeks a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in office and ASC settings. You will enter intake and orders into the EMR, request medical records, monitor vitals, and facilitate patient flow, while maintaining HIPAA and infection control standards.

Responsibilities include assisting pre-op and recovery, supporting staff with schedules, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Internet and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and customer service.
• Ability to work with doctors, staff and the public.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Flexible schedule and calm under stress.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of healthcare and medical terminology.
• If ASC, influenza vaccination proof (or mask if refused).
• Two-step PPD or annual PPD clearance.

• Within 90 days, complete C-arm competencies (if working with C-arm).
• Commitment to high ethical professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient intake and provider orders into the EMR and request records.
• Assist in pre-op, recovery, and transport to discharge.
• Assist patients with medical forms and information.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and infection control standards.
• Complete paperwork and prepare requisitions as instructed by providers.
• Create and maintain a positive patient service atmosphere.
• Verify patient information and history.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages promptly.
• Maintain current skills through trainings and certifications.
• Assist nursing staff with vital signs, history and glucometer checks.
• Provide timely patient rounds in pre-op and recovery.
• Support scheduling and office procedures to ensure patient flow.
• Assist with inventory and supply orders for ASC procedures.
• Set up sterile fields and assist during procedures.
• Pass instruments and assist during procedures; adhere to regulations.
• Initiate time-outs and verify patient, procedure, site, and side with two identifiers.
• Sterilize rooms and maintain clean procedure areas.
• Maintain stock of medicines and supplies; advise on replacements.
• Maintain lab and radiology records; ensure proper documentation.
• Operate and maintain equipment (e.g., autoclave, C-Arm); assist physician as needed.
• Follow infection control, safety and OSHA standards.
• Complete regulatory competencies for ASC and C-arm competencies as required.
