Job summary

State of Tennessee is seeking a Probation/Parole Supervisor in the Coffee County area. Under general supervision, you will manage probation/parole activities, supervise staff, and ensure policy adherence while coordinating with courts, law enforcement, and partners.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant experience or approved substitutions. A criminal background check and MVR screening are part of employment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to four years of full-time professional level experience in probation/parole, counseling, social work, investigative, or law enforcement.
• Substitution of Experience for Education: full-time relevant professional experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
• Substitution of Graduate Course Work for Experience: graduate coursework may substitute for up to two years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Audits staff's casework for quality and adherence to standards required by policy and procedures.
• Directs staff to request arrest warrants for non-compliance by the offenders as required by policy and procedures.
• Analyzes reports for needed action related to the offenders under their supervision.
• Addresses public, offender, and staff complaints and grievances quickly and professionally as required by policy and procedures.
• Acts as liaison with judges, court personnel, law enforcement and other agencies concerned with the probation/parole program.
• Interacts in a positive manner with fellow employees and offenders to foster a respectful working environment.
• Exchanges information with law enforcement officers, district attorneys, other state agencies, representatives of outside organizations, and community agencies related to offenders.
• Enforces departmental policy and procedure guidelines.
