Job summary

Missouri Department of Corrections seeks qualified individuals to support offender management and public safety. The role involves investigating offenders' home, work, and social environments for courts and Parole Board, collecting data, and preparing reports to guide supervision strategies.

Responsibilities include counseling offenders in homes/workplaces, assisting vocational/educational planning, coordinating with public/private agencies, and contributing to investigations.

Qualifications

  • Four or more years of experience in Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections; OR four or more years of related social services, probation/parole, or corrections-related experience; and possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates offender's home, work, and social environments for circuit courts and the Parole Board; collects, verifies, and evaluates data; incorporates into reports and records; assesses needs and risk levels to determine supervision strategies.
  • Contacts offenders in homes, workplaces, or confinement and counsels them regarding personal or adjustment problems; attends court and makes reports.
  • Assists in vocational/educational and social adjustment planning for offenders; cooperates with public/private agencies and law enforcement; investigates violations; may issue warrants.
  • Prepares statistical reports; administers breathalyzer/urinalysis testing; participates in investigations and research; serves on committees; as experience grows, supervision becomes more general.
  • Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
  • Completes safety training including defensive tactics and re-qualification.
