Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
  • Four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, health, or related fields; possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
  • Earned credit hours from an accredited college/university may substitute for experience at 30 credit hours per year.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates offender's home/work/social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board; collects/verifies/evaluates data; prepares reports and records; assesses needs/risk levels to determine supervision strategies.
  • Contacts offenders at home/work/confinement and counsels them; attends court to receive assignments and reports.
  • Assists in vocational/educational/social adjustment planning; cooperates with public/private agencies; investigates violations; may issue warrants.
  • Prepares statistical reports; administers breathalyzer/urinalysis testing; participates in investigations; serves on committees; experience leads to broader supervision.
  • Possesses a valid driver's license; completes safety training including defensive tactics.
