State of Tennessee in Madisonville, TN is seeking entry‑level probation and parole staff to perform trainee duties within the Probation and Parole program. You will learn to plan and implement services, with supervision initially close and then broader as you progress.

The role requires a bachelor's degree (or substitution with relevant experience) and successful completion of training at the Tennessee Correction Academy, along with weapons qualifications and a clean background check.

Formación

• Education: bachelor's degree required or equivalent professional experience.
• Substitution of experience for education allowed on a year-for-year basis.
• Be willing to qualify with and use assigned weapons.
• Must be at least 18 years old at application.
• U.S. citizenship and good moral character required.
• Complete a criminal history disclosure form and release records.
• Provide fingerprint sample for history check; pass background checks.
• No felony or domestic assault convictions; discharge from U.S. armed forces not dishonorable.
• Pass physical and psychological evaluations; drug screening.
• Have a valid driver's license; complete DOJ/Tennessee Corrections courses on appointment.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare and maintain offenders' records and reports.
• Monitor offenders to ensure compliance with release requirements.
• Interview probationers/parolees; review backgrounds and databases.
• Conduct investigations for pre-hearing and pre-release; testify as needed.
• Liaise with judges, law enforcement, and other agencies.
• Interact professionally with staff and offenders to maintain a respectful environment.
• Address non-compliance with sanctions and document warrants or reports.
• Supervise community-based sentences and conduct field checks including drug tests.
• Perform risk and needs assessments to determine re-offend risk factors.
• Handle offender complaints promptly per policy.
