Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Probation Officer I for Henrico P&P. You will supervise adults on probation, parole, or post‑release supervision and apply evidence‑based practices to promote pro‑social behavior and reduce recidivism.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of criminal justice system and case management.
• Experience writing reports and communicating effectively in writing and orally.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of probationers, co-workers and community-based organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day supervision to adults under probation, parole, or post‑release supervision.
• Assess criminogenic and treatment needs using validated tools and develop individualized supervision plans.
• Use evidence‑based practices to encourage positive change and accountability.
• Partner with treatment providers, employers and community organizations to connect individuals with services.
• Conduct home and community visits as appropriate to supervision plans.
