Job summary

Lancaster County Government is seeking a full-time Paralegal to manage probate filings, prepare legal documents, and support the Orphans' Court and Inheritance Tax processes. The role requires strong organization, confidentiality, and Microsoft Office proficiency.

You will also assist in scanning documents, training probate clerks, and backing up the marriage clerk duties, with daily cash handling support and software testing as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma; Associates degree or paralegal cert preferred; or commensurate experience.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Legal field experience desirable.
  • Cross-training across multiple office areas.

Responsibilities

  • Input probates and related filings.
  • Prepare probate documents for pick-up or mailing.
  • Process short certificate requests.
  • Handle mail and phone requests.
  • Prepare citations and Register's decrees.
  • Type letters and prepare subpoenas.
  • Schedule and host virtual probate proceedings.
  • Scan documents into the case management system.
  • Back up Marriage Clerk duties as needed.
  • Assist with daily deposits.
  • Test software as needed.
