Job summary

LHH in Tallahassee, FL seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support a busy legal team in insurance defense matters. The role emphasizes independence in daily case management, collaboration with attorneys, and proactive handling of upcoming deadlines, while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Ideal candidates will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple active matters in a deadline-driven environment with strong judgment and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years paralegal experience required.
• Strong understanding of the litigation process and insurance defense practices.
• Experience assisting with discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Familiarity with state and/or federal court filing procedures.
• Strong knowledge of legal terminology and litigation procedures.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive paralegal support to attorneys throughout all stages of insurance defense litigation.
• Manage and maintain assigned case files from inception through resolution.
• Assist attorneys with case preparation, discovery, pleadings, motions, and other litigation matters.
• Review, organize, and summarize medical records, claim files, discovery responses, and other case-related documentation.
• Assist with drafting and preparing pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, notices, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Coordinate and assist with written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and responses.
• Track discovery deadlines, court dates, statutes, and other critical case deadlines.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Prepare deposition materials, exhibits, chronologies, witness files, and other litigation support materials.
• Organize and maintain exhibits and supporting documentation for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial.
• Assist with deposition scheduling and coordinate logistics with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, court reporters, and other parties.
• Coordinate independent medical examinations, inspections, expert consultations, and other litigation-related appointments.
• Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, courts, experts, medical providers, and other third parties as appropriate.
• Review case correspondence and incoming documentation and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Assist with legal research and factual investigation as directed by attorneys.
• Prepare case summaries, status reports, litigation timelines, and other materials for attorney review.
• Monitor case activity and proactively communicate upcoming deadlines and outstanding items to attorneys.
• Electronically file pleadings and other legal documents with state and federal courts.
• Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files in accordance with established procedures.
• Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness materials, pleadings, discovery, and trial notebooks.
• Assist attorneys with settlement and mediation preparation, including compiling relevant case information and documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of case activity and ensure files remain current and organized.
• Handle confidential client, medical, financial, and litigation information with discretion.
• Manage multiple cases and competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Provide additional support to attorneys and the legal team as needed.
