Job summary

Mattr is seeking an HSE Specialist for our Blythewood manufacturing site to elevate safety performance by partnering with site leadership and embedding corporate standards into daily operations. The role focuses on proactive risk mitigation, training, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate will bring a university degree in safety or related fields, 3–5 years in HSE roles, and experience in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• University degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Fire Science, or related field.
• 3–5 years in Health, Safety and Environment roles.
• Experience in manufacturing, heavy manufacturing or construction-related settings.
• HSE certification or equivalent credentials.
• Strong knowledge of HSE systems and tools.
• Ability to develop and deliver training across diverse audiences.
• 5+ years in complex industrial environments (preferred).
• Experience with safety software platforms such as VelocityEHS or MSDS Online (preferred).
• Exposure to molding or specialized manufacturing processes (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Partner with site leadership to implement and sustain a proactive safety culture aligned with corporate HSE standards.
• Execute advanced HSE programs that go beyond regulatory compliance and support site performance goals.
• Lead and support site assessments tied to QHSE audits, identifying gaps and action plans.
• Drive safety deliverables including JSAs, hazard identification, and program execution.
• Support Stop Work Authority and other critical safety initiatives across the site.
• Deliver and facilitate HSE training programs to build capability and awareness.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to influence safe behaviors and alignment with safety objectives.
• Maintain a strong shop floor presence (≈50%) to reinforce practices and engage employees.
