Job summary

Ohio Department of Veterans Services is hiring PRN Therapeutic Program Workers for the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. The role supports residents with daily living activities and participates in activities and care plans on a flexible, part-time schedule.

The TPW role emphasizes direct care, teamwork and compliance with safety and infection-control standards, with an hourly wage of $23.28. Experience in veteran services is valued; OT or weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic including addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English.
• High school diploma or equivalent; STNA certification and/or listed on Ohio Nurse Aide Registry may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with daily living skills and needs.
• Transport and accompany residents to activities or programs.
• Complete daily, monthly and other required documentation.
• Observe and report changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents or injuries to charge nurse.
• Perform light housekeeping duties in living areas.
• Apply safety and infection control measures.
• Redirect unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes.
• Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge and transfer of residents.
