PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Performs scrub and circulating duties during interventional procedures according to USV/FMS policies and procedures. Assists with preparation of procedure room, inventory of supplies, and stocking of supplies in the procedure room and stock room.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists with the maintenance and setting up of the procedure room in compliance with FMCNA/USV policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
2. Stocks procedure room and procedure trays with all needed supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedure.
3. Cleans the procedure room including the equipment and machinery post-procedure.
4. May assist with preparing the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning, shaving, and prepping.
5. Prepares and administers medications within the scope of practice and state regulations.
6. Performs patient transfers and positioning of patients and transports patient to and from procedure room.
7. Acts as scrub assistant assisting the physician during interventional procedures under fluoroscopy; maintaining a sterile technique according to the established company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
8. Draws up intravenous medication and labels as per Medication Labeling Policy, and Medication in the Sterile Field Competency.
9. Performs circulating duties in the procedure room.
10. Complies with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality.
11. Assists with maintaining environmental integrity and aesthetics. Ensures all areas are clean, sanitary, and safe daily. Checks all facility equipment and instruments for proper functioning before and after procedures.
12. May perform minor equipment repairs and general upkeep. Communicates problems to supervisor and documents issues in the communication log.
13. May assist with instrument sterilization and packaging of surgical instruments.
14. Assists with preparing, organizing, and utilizing supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent wastage.
15. Provides outstanding patient care by supporting USV quality standards, regulatory requirements, and CQI practices.
16. Supports USV quality goals and facility-specific action plans to meet quality standards.
17. Maintains integrity of medical records and operational records.
18. Provides clerical and practical support to physicians and staff, including ensuring instruments and equipment are available, printing images, and training new employees on medical equipment.
19. Follows policies for filing paperwork and managing inventory, including ordering and restocking supplies.
20. Processes x-ray images as needed and archives patient images per policies and regulations.
21. Participates in regulatory and accreditation surveys, addressing deficiencies as needed.
22. Assists with marketing, education, promotion, and sales of Fresenius Vascular Care services within an assigned territory, working with sales and clinical teams.
23. Establishes and maintains relationships with current and potential clients, researching local markets and making sales calls.
24. Maintains knowledge of the vascular care business, services, and competitors.
25. Acts as a customer liaison between dialysis clinics, specialty clinics, and FVC centers.
26. May require occasional evening and weekend hours.
27. Adheres to the Code of Business Conduct, company policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
28. Participates in various projects as assigned and performs other duties as needed.

Additional responsibilities may include focus on specific departments or locations as detailed in addenda.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

• The physical demands include desk and computer work, interaction with patients and staff, and exposure to infectious materials. Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Travel up to 50% within the region may be required.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma required
• Surgical Technologist Certification preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• 1-2 years' related experience preferred
• Previous patient care experience is advantageous
• Knowledge of interventional equipment, procedures, sterile techniques, and universal precautions
• Experience with C-Arm and ultrasound equipment preferred
• Successful completion of BLS certification required
