Job summary

Summit Spine and Joint Centers (SSJC) is seeking a Surgical First Assistant (PRN) to support procedures across multiple ASC locations in Georgia and the Carolinas. You will assist surgeons, position patients, and contribute to safe, efficient operations within a fast-paced OR environment.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with anesthesia providers, nurses, and clinical teams. PRN scheduling varies with surgical volume and site needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year Surgical First Assistant experience preferred.
• Associate degree or higher in health field preferred.
• Graduate of accredited Surgical First Assistant program preferred.
• Experience supporting orthopedic/spine procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and team in procedures with patient safety in mind.
• Position patients for optimal exposure following safety protocols.
• Provide intraoperative assistance including visualization and tissue handling.
• Demonstrate proper use of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Perform skills like clamping, suturing, suctioning, and tissue manipulation.
• Assist with wound closure and post-procedure patient care.
• Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure efficient operations.
