Job summary

Spokane Valley Health and Rehab of Cascadia in Spokane Valley is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver patient-centered therapy in a sub-acute/long-term care setting. Under physician direction you will screen and evaluate residents, develop care plans, provide direct treatment, document in records, and collaborate with rehab and nursing staff while maintaining HIPAA privacy.

Required: BS in Speech-Language Pathology, current SLP license, CPR certification; six months LTC experience

Qualifications

• BS in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Current license in Speech-Language Pathology as required by state law.
• Valid CPR certification required.
• Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate patients/residents and develop care plans.

Essential Functions

• Screens and evaluates patients/residents and develops appropriate care plan.
• Under a physician's direction, provides direct patient/resident treatment based on established plan of care.
• Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.
• Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
• Instructs residents/patients, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.
• Completes required forms and clinical records in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
• Documents in patient records in an accurate and timely manner.
• Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.
• Provides comprehensive and compassionate therapy services in a sub-acute/skilled nursing facility setting.
• Works collaboratively with other rehab therapists and nursing staff in a supportive team-working environment.
• Maintains resident/patient privacy pursuant to HIPAA.
• Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology required.

Licenses/Certification

• Current license in Speech Language Therapy as required by state law.
• Valid CPR certification required.

Experience

• Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
