Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current and active CPR certification.
• Current and valid nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing board.
• 2-3 Years’ experience as a in critical care nursing required.
• Cognitive skills as related to the position.

Responsibilities

• Oversee intake and initial physical assessment and history.
• Perform surgeon-ordered tests such as EKG and draw blood.
• Explain the process to patients and discuss post-surgical care.
• Manage preadmission testing and admission to preoperative department.
• Assess patients’ health and verify identification wristbands.
• Ensure operative consents are in order and identify surgeon/procedure.
• Take and record vital statistics and initiate IVs.
• Assess postoperative patients and ensure vitals are within normal range.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and medications.
• Move patients to rooms when ready and intervene in emergencies.
• Document sedation levels and fluid management.
