Job summary

Legent Health in Houston, TX is seeking an RN to cover Preop, PAT, and PACU duties in a fast-paced surgical unit. This full-time role focuses on pre-operative screening and immediate post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from surgery.

You will conduct pre-admission testing, perform surgeon-ordered tests, initiate IVs, monitor vitals, and document findings while educating patients and families about procedures and post-operative care. Strong critical care experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current and active CPR certification.
• Current and valid nursing license in good standing.
• 2-3 years’ experience in critical care nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage pre-admission testing, including patient history intake.
• Perform tests ordered by the surgeon (e.g., EKG) and draw blood for labs.
• Guide patients through preoperative and post-anesthetic care in PACU.
• Initiate IVs and ensure informed consent and patient readiness.
• Monitor vitals, ensure comfort, and document findings.
• Develop individualized care plans and educate patients and families.
