Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a PRN Respiratory Equipment Technician to support installation, calibration, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of departmental medical equipment across the hospital, including ventilators. This position is ideal for a student in a Respiratory Therapy program, with 1–3 years of equipment experience, and CPR certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED plus specialized and/or advanced clerical technical or other vocational training acquired during 1 - 2 years of additional job-related training required
1-3 years hospital/medical equipment experience required
CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (BLS/NRP) within 90 days required; additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department.

Responsibilities

Performs preventive maintenance and performance testing on departmental clinical/medical equipment and documents activities.
Performs routine repairs on departmental clinical/medical equipment and refers complex repairs to Biomedical Engineering.
Receives and documents newly acquired equipment prior to installation.
Confers with Facilities Management regarding alterations to medical gas systems and checks oxygen system purity.
Demonstrates assembly of high frequency and specialty ventilators to staff.
Maintains and audits departmental equipment inventory and reorders as necessary.
