Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Experience: One year previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
• Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Operates and sets up devices such as ventilators and aerosol generators per treatment parameters.
• Provides emergency care including artificial ventilation and CPR assistance.
• Collects and analyzes arterial blood gases and determines corrective interventions.
• Follows physician orders for treatment type, mode and duration; observes precautions and medication dosage.
• Monitors patient response via vital signs, ABG, breath sounds, pulse oximetry and capnography.
• Consults with physicians and nurses to adjust patient care plans.
