Job summary

Methodist Hospital Texsan in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner (PRN). You will operate ventilators, monitor ABG values, and collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to optimize patient care.

The role requires an approved Respiratory Therapy program graduate, Texas license, and BLS; ACLS within 90 days and PALS/NRP if required by department are preferred. Prior RT experience is advantageous. This PRN position supports a busy acute care environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Experience: One year previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
• Training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department.

Responsibilities

• Operates and sets up devices such as mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators following treatment parameters.
• Provides emergency care including artificial ventilation and CPR assistance.
• Collects and analyzes arterial blood gases and responds to results with appropriate interventions.
• Follows physician orders for treatment duration and modality; monitors response to therapy.
• Monitors vital signs and respiratory status; communicates changes to team.
• Consults with physicians and nurses to adjust the plan of care.
